C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra - the Happy Fools Party
The Convergence Conspiracy Collective is an ensemble of musicians and artists
formed near the end of 2002 with a desire to express a unified vision of
radically transformed consciousness: a human race which "gets it", which has
somehow miraculously grown up and come to its senses. Ridiculous, yes, we know.
Such a thing could never happen, right? Impossible, and only fools would choose
to believe in such a thing. Right. Well, happy fools are we.
Thoughts are things. Welcome to the Happy Fools Party and to the possibility
of a new era for the human race.
Consider for a moment: everything we have accomplished as a species began as an idea,
a thought, a vision in someone's mind. Someone actually had to think about preserving
and carrying fire from one camp to another as our species migrated to find food. Wheel
and axle? Started as a visualization, an idea, a thought.
Thoughts are things. So what if a growing number of individuals
begin to visualize a "breakthrough," a transformation so radical that our species
might actually stand a chance of surviving, even thriving, with every individual
enjoying freedom and opportunity and perhaps even joyfulness. What if we visualize
the human race finally growing up. Do we believe it will actually happen? Wrong question
because you don't have to believe it to contribute to the vision. Thoughts are things
whether you mean them to be or not.
The C3 collective has simply decided to take responsibility for holding and expressing
that vision - but expressing it through celebration and music and art and light, and any
other means that might have the effect of inspiring others to join the parade.
Ignore "common sense" for a moment. Ignore cynicism for a moment. What we're asking is,
if only for the duration of our performance, that you visualize a moment when the human
race breaks through all of its barriers, suddenly outgrows its adolescent angst, and
finally grows up. Visualize the New and Improved Human Race.
There is an ancient prophecy handed down to us by the Olmecs by way of the
Mayans which says we're nearing the end of this Age and about to enter a new
and much more enlightened Age. The Olmecs were quite specific: their
calendar, if we have translated it right, says the fate of the human race
will take a sharp turn on or around December 21, 2012.
According to legend, we will then experience something called a "
harmonic convergence", which some
have interpreted to mean a coming together of universal forces vast and
unknowable to us, but which directly affect our viewpoint, our perceptions
of "reality". Some have chosen to interpret this to mean the human race will
experience a sudden and radical shift in perspective - a transcendence
beyond our current base vibratory level, as the yogic teachings might put
it.
We will hop to a new level of being, suddenly and quite spontaneously.
C3, the Convergence Conspiracy Collective, is a collective
of artists and musicians which has manifested suddenly and quite
spontaneously in the Midwest of the United States, with the hope and
intention of aiding this process, of facilitating the maturation, or perhaps
the birthing, of true human nature, by nurturing the Convergence meme. The
collective's principle method to accomplish this, given that we're rather
absurd and creative types with little patience for teaching, lecturing,
philosophizing, or similar techniques for haranguing and coercing our
fellows, is to simply celebrate the coming of this great moment as
loudly and brashly and persistently and publicly as possible.
"Computers - the gizmos themselves - have far less to do with techie enthusiasm
than some half-understood resonance to The Great Work: hardwiring collective
consciousness, creating the Planetary Mind. Teilhard de Chardin wrote about
this enterprise many years ago and would be appalled by the prosaic nature
of the tools we will use to bring it about. But I think there is something
sweetly ironic that the ladder to his Omega Point might be built by engineers
and not mystics." -- John Perry Barlow
"In terms of prophecy," Teabing said, "we are currently in an epoch of enormous
change. The millennium has recently passed, and with it has ended the two-thousand-year-long
astrological Age of Pisces - the fish, which is also the sign of Jesus. As any
astrological symbologist will tell you, the Piscean ideal believes that man must be
told what to do by higher powers because man is incapable of thinking for himself.
Hence it has been a time of fervent religion. Now, however, we are entering the Age of
Aquarius - the water bearer - whose ideals claim that man will learn the truth and
be able to think for himself. The idealogical shift is enormous, and it is occurring right now."
